Frequently Asked Questions
Would you please clarify for me the dates and schedule for the 2007 convention, so that I may begin planning for my trip?
Although the exact timetable for all activities is still in the planning stages, the overall timetable for the whole event is set so that you can plan travel accordingly. The Convention will begin on Tuesday, July 17, 2007, and continue through Friday, July 20.
The Registration Desk is open as of Noon on Tuesday, and events start that same afternoon and evening. The final event will be the traditional Awards Banquet, on Friday night. Therefore, plan to check in to the hotel on Tuesday, and check-out on Saturday morning to take advantage of four very full days of activities. There are no activities planned for Saturday.
Is the entire convention is being held during the week? No weekend events or activities included?
Correct, this was our unique plan to allow for people to travel from as far away as Oklahoma City, Maine, and Florida, Detroit, and Tennessee, to name a few, without having to use personal time from work over two different calendar weeks for those that need a two day drive each way.
Saturday morning there’s a "join us for breakfast" at the hotel; it’s not part of any special organized event, just a fond farewell. The hotels has a really nice breakfast buffet and gave us a great VTR rate for breakfast, so, why not?
Is Friday the 20th is the last day?
Well, if we run a few minutes past midnight Friday you might be inclined to say otherwise. We run right up to the very very end of Friday; four very full days!
What events are scheduled?
As you may know, we are obliged to carry through on many traditions as far as specific events, and also have the privilege of spicing it up with a few of our own. A full printable schedule is available. In addition, The Vintage Triumph magazine has a hard-copy version in their most recent issue.
Is any printed information available?
We'll be sending information and literature to all the chapters; don't forget to renew your VTR memberships to stay on the list. (www.vtr.org)
Contact your local chapter, attend a monthly meeting, and meet fellow Triumph enthusiasts that are planning to attend the convention. (Can't find your local chapter? Go to http://www.vintagetriumphregister.org/chapters.shtml and check out the list.)
How much is the host hotel charging? I didn't see it on the web site ...
We have a convention contract rate with the hotel and at this time the hotel is holding 100% of the rooms for our event! The best way to determine pricing is to click through to the hotel web site via our registration page and you will automatically be quoted the preferred convention rate for the type of room and dates you enter (roughly $129 a night before taxes, etc.) You can do that without having to enter a credit card, but you will need the card to book the room.
Are there other hotels nearby? I have another rewards program and would like to use my points.
There are several hotels within a mile or so of the convention hotel, including a Holiday Inn Express and a Crowne Plaza, but we do not have a special event rate with them.
We do have an arrangement with the Sleep Inn about a mile and a half away via local roads, but they are only holding 25 rooms for us. To get our rate, you must call them at (484) 690-2000. You can view the property details at their web site, but the special rate is only available by calling the hotel directly.
